Rias Baixas Wine

The Rías Baixas wine belongs to the appellation that is located in the estuaries of southern Galicia. Rias Baixas is composed of 5 sub-zones: Val do heal, Condado do Tea, O Rosal and Ribeira do Ulla Soutomaior. These occur mainly sub Albariño grape prestigious being the benchmark name of winemaking Galicia. The DO is located between Pontevedra and La Coruna being its Atlantic climate with mild temperatures and high humidity.

Rías Baixas wine extends over 3,600 hectares, with 204 wineries reaping wines of great prestige in Spain and abroad. DO wines each vintage receives awards in the biggest trade fairs and tastings of the world.

The grape variety used is preferably more Albariño, indigenous strain. In addition, for whites loureira using the white (or Marquis) caiño treixadura and white. With the Albariño wines have straw colored, powerful and much aroma. In the reds, although very little produced, strains are: caiño tinto, Espadeiro, loureira and Sousón.
